*The Brady Bunch *is one of the most culturally iconic sitcoms of all time and one of the signature shows of the 1970s. The show revolves around the blended Brady family learning to get along together when Mike (Robert Reed) marries Carol (Florence Henderson), bringing together his three sons and her three daughters.

The series went strong from 1969 to 1974, earning a loyal audience and an enduring cultural legacy even after it went off the air. It became a true media franchise, spanning a variety show, animated spinoff, two TV movies, two sequel series, and even a big screen reboot of sorts, with two films, *The Brady Bunch Movie *(1995) and *A Very Brady Sequel *(1996) serving as affectionate parodies of the original classic.

Here’s what happened to the actors behind one of America’s signature fictional families.

Robert Reed (Mike Brady)

Robert Reed played the calm, stern, ethical family patriarch, Mike.

He wasn’t just playing a great dad on TV; he also doted on the actors playing his kids in real life, as Eve Plumb explained in 2023.

“One Christmas, Robert Reed gave all of us Super 8 cameras because he was taking us on a trip, first to New York City and then on the QA2 to London,” Plumb said. “It was so much fun to be traveling with Robert and everybody in the cast.”

Before finding that defining role, the actor was best known for the acclaimed legal drama *The Defenders *(1961-1965). After *The Brady Bunch*, Reed found even greater critical success, earning Emmy nominations for his performance as a transgender doctor on *Medical Center *(1975) and later for another physician role in the classic miniseries *Roots *(1977).

However, the Chicago native was always best known as Mike Brady, and he returned for several *Brady* reunions.

Reed had one daughter with his ex-wife, Marilyn Rosenberger. He died in 1992 at 59 years old.

Florence Henderson (Carol Brady)

Florence Henderson found a defining role as Carol, the kind, upbeat matriarch of the Brady clan. She became one of pop culture’s quintessential TV moms, and for her part, she believed her experience as a real-life mother directly came across over the airwaves.

“There were certain things I brought to the role. I think my experience as a young parent… the fact that I understood kids, I felt close to them,” Henderson told the Television Academy. “I could be very funny, but I could also bring the empathy of what is necessary for a show like that.”

With her legacy already assured, Henderson remained a fixture on TV for decades afterward. In addition to guest work on various popular series, she was a regular on talk shows and game shows. *Hollywood Squares *and the *Pyramid *franchise were two of her most consistent gigs. In later years, she even hosted her own talk show, *The Florence Henderson Show *(2007-2009).

The Indiana native maintained an old-fashioned maternal persona with hosting gigs on *Country Kitchen *and *Who’s Cooking with Florence Henderson*.

Henderson had four children with her first husband, Ira Bernstein. She was later married to hypnotherapist Dr. John Kappas until his 2002 death. Henderson died in 2016 at 82 years old.

Ann B. Davis (Alice Nelson)

“Oh, Alice!” Ann B. Davis portrayed the Bradys’ housekeeper, who always kept the family on their toes with her dry sense of humor.

“Well, the character was fun… [Alice] cared very much about this family and it was [her] family,” Davis told the Television Academy. “They wanted an intermediary between the kids and the adults and the boy and the girls… They gave me funny things to do and I did them funny. That’s the way it’s supposed to work.”

By the time she joined the Brady household, the actress was already a two-time Emmy winner for *The Bob Cummings Show *(1955-1959) and also had *The John Forsythe Show *(1965-1966) under her belt.

She acted only sparingly after her *Brady Bunch *years, but she returned for the franchise’s various sequels and specials. Davis died in 2014 at age 88.

Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady)

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Maureen McCormick plays the confident, overachieving, popular eldest daughter of the Brady clan.

With rumors that her former onscreen siblings were organizing another reunion, McCormick told PEOPLE in 2024* *that it would take something special for her to bring back Marcia again.

“It’s so hard to do a reboot or a remake of something,” she said. “So I feel very protective of it in a way. It has such great memories for so many people, but it would just have to absolutely knock my socks off for me to want to do anything with it. I would know in my heart.”

After the original series came to a close, McCormick guest-starred on a string of ’70s and ’80s touchstones, including *Happy Days *(1975) and several episodes each of *The Love Boat *(1977-1982) and *Fantasy Island *(1978-1983). She also booked supporting roles in films like the Golden Globe-winning *The Idolmaker *(1980) and *Return to Horror High *(1987).

The actress briefly returned to more regular roles on ABC’s sitcom *Teen Angel *(1997) and the soap opera *Passions *(2000). She also had a stint hosting the home renovation show *Frozen in Time *on HGTV.

McCormick has been married to Michael Cummings since 1985. They have one daughter.

Eve Plumb (Jan Brady)

Eve Plumb suffered from the classic middle child syndrome as the often-overlooked, sometimes insecure, but fiercely determined Jan. And it turns out the role wasn’t a far stretch for the young actress.

“Jan was a lot like me to begin with,” Plumb told *The Pittsburgh Express*. “As a child, I reacted to situations and people in the show just as I would in real life. I had no other kind of reference at that age. I did things naturally just as any little girl would do in a given situation.”

After the show ended, Plumb couldn’t have strayed further from her Brady roots, famously portraying a teenage sex worker in *Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway *(1976). She went on to play Beth March in a miniseries version of *Little Women *(1978) and guest starred on *The Facts of Life *(1983), *Murder, She Wrote *(1985), *That ‘70s Show *(1998), and *Blue Bloods *(2017).

The veteran actress is also a painter with work featured regularly in galleries. She published a memoir in 2025, *Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond*.

Plumb has been married to business consultant Ken Pace since 1995.

Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady)

Susan Olsen played the youngest Brady daughter, Cindy, who’s often perceived as naïve, but occasionally showed surprising intelligence for her age.

Olsen enjoyed her time as Cindy, and even came around to appreciating an episode she initially hated in which her character impersonated Shirley Temple.

“[A friend] told me that that's my standout moment, because it is so stupid of Cindy to be 12 and want to be Shirley Temple. And he says that I did it with so much conviction that it made it extra funny,” Olsen told PEOPLE in 2025. “I can kind of see that now. It works because it's so ridiculous and I look so stupid… Now I see that. It is funny.”

The actress largely left acting behind after *The Brady Bunch *ran its course. Over the years, she has worked as a radio host and in 2009 co-wrote a book, *Love to Love You Bradys: The Bizarre Story of the Brady Bunch Variety Show*.

Barry Williams (Greg Brady)

Barry Williams became known for playing the athletic, level-headed leader of the Brady kids, Greg.

Williams has confirmed that the closeness of the Brady siblings wasn’t just an act for the cameras.

“I think that translated from the show, the chemistry we had, and is evidenced by our lifelong friendships,” he told PEOPLE in 2025. “We know the ups and downs. We’ve been through weddings, we’ve been through separation, we’ve been through kids… It’s been really nice.”

The veteran actor has gotten regular TV work over the years, appearing on *Three’s Company *(1982), *General Hospital *(1984), and *Scrubs *(2009). More recently, he’s been active on competition shows like *The Masked Singer* (2022), *Dancing With the Stars *(2023) and *I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! *(2026).

He's also in a band alongside his wife, Tina Mahina, whom he married in 2017. Williams has two children from prior relationships.

Christopher Knight (Peter Brady)

Peter is arguably the most humble, likeable Brady as the middle son willing to try anything, from being a reporter to volcanic science projects.

In real life, actor Christopher Knight didn’t drive by the Brady house until nearly 30 years after the series wrapped, but was open to returning for *A Very Brady Renovation*.

“I was told where it was and I just drove by… and I lived really close by, too,” Knight told EW in 2019. “When [they first contacted me], I said, ‘You can’t do what you want to do. But I’m happy to play… It’s a one-story house and there was a big staircase on the show. How do you put that staircase in and not violate the elevation from the street?”

Knight forged an unconventional career for a known TV star, forgoing acting and starting multiple computer businesses in the ‘80s and ‘90s. He returned to the public eye in the 2000s as a reality TV star, first on *The Surreal Life*, then on *My Fair Brady *with his future wife, model Adrianne Curry. They later divorced in 2012.

He has been married to Cara Kokenes, his fourth wife, since 2016.

Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady)

The carefree, lighthearted, and often mischievous, the youngest Brady boy was played by Mike Lookinland.

He reprised his role as Bobby in every *Brady Bunch *sequel and spinoff over the years. He hasn’t acted much otherwise, working more behind the camera, specifically on *Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Meyers *(1988), the original miniseries version of *The Stand *(1994), and Christopher McQuarrie’s *The Way of the Gun *(2000).

The Utah native had a mild resurgence in the 2020s, appearing alongside his sitcom brothers in the TV movie *Blending Christmas* (2021)* *and on *The Masked Singer *(2022), where the three appeared as the Mummies.

The former actor runs a small business that makes decorative concrete, including tabletops, countertops, benches, and fireplaces.

Lookinland married his wife, Kelly Wermuth, in 1987 and the couple have two children together.
