Golden State Warriors star Kristaps Porzingis has been one of the top options of the team amid the injuries they've had in the 2025-26 season. Before the Warriors' game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, Porzingis had been the main offensive weapon over the past three games, leading them to three straight wins.
During that stretch, the one-time champion has averaged 22.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists on 36.8% shooting from deep. With Stephen Curry on the sidelines due to a runner's knee, Porzingis has taken the responsibility of doing more on offense.
The Warriors had six quick points in the first quarter against the Nuggets after placing him in strategic locations behind the 3-point arc. Porzingis achieved a career milestone in 3-point shooting with his impressive start from beyond the arc.

The Warriors posted on X about Porzingis' career milestone, as he hit 1,000 3-pointers. Steve Kerr's system is focused on making outside shots, which maximizes the one-time All-Star's effectiveness from deep.
Golden State acquired Porzingis from the Atlanta Hawks at the trade deadline. Although he had some health issues, the big man eventually overcame them and has been available for the Warriors. He has appeared in 10 games, averaging 17.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
The Warriors will need him healthy ahead of the Play-In Tournament.

Warriors Expected to Re-Sign Kristaps Porzingis
Ahead of the offseason, no one is sure what the Warriors have planned for Porzingis. He will be an unrestricted free agent over the summer, as his two-year, $60 million contract extension ends. For the franchise, the Latvian big man is an answer to their defensive problems.
The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson and San Francisco Standard’s Tim Kawakami discussed Porzingis' free agency on the "Warriors Plus Minus podcast" on Saturday. According to Thompson, he believes that Golden State will likely re-sign him to a new deal.
"Can he stay healthy? And I absolutely, as we're sitting here right now, believe that Porzingis and the Warriors will work something out where we will see him again next season in a Warriors jersey."
The Warriors have been looking for a capable rim protector who can anchor the interior and allow Draymond Green to commit to playing power forward. Aside from Porzingis' defense, the Warriors also gained another offensive option because of his reliable outside shooting.
Since Porzingis has missed several games this season due to illness, his primary worry is his health.
