Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas of TLC performs onstage during the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards at Dolby Theatre on April 1, 2024, in Hollywood.

Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas is speaking out about making donations to campaigns linked to President Donald Trump.

The TLC singer spoke out Saturday, March 30, following a The Independent report earlier in the day that she made nearly $1,000 in donations to Trump's campaign in 2024. But the singer says she was misinformed about what she was donating to.

"I WANT TO BE CLEAR: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people," Chilli, 55, wrote on Instagram. "I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans."

On Saturday, The Independent reported that a Rozonda Thomas of Stone Mountain, Georgia, made donations to the Trump National Committee JFC (joint fundraising committee) and Never Surrender Inc., a political fundraising group linked to Trump, according to Federal Election Commission records reviewed by the outlet.

Chilli said that her dad is a veteran and "everyone knows I love children."

She added, "I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this."

The report comes weeks after she faced backlash for allegedly resharing a conspiracy theory about Michelle Obama being transgender.

In a video accompanying the post, she said what has been "circulating on the internet" has been "very concerning." She added that she had "no clue" she reposted the claim and didn't find out until she started receiving texts and phone calls.

"I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman," she said in the video.

Both come nearly a decade after the singer caused controversy for saying "all lives matter" during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2017. She later told The Shade Room that her intention was to be inclusive of everyone affected by police brutality and didn't mean to undermine the movement, calling attention to the disproportionate effect on Black Americans. "Of course Black lives matter and the killing of young Black boys is heartbreaking to all of us," she said at the time.

TLC is set to join Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue on the It's Iconic Tour this summer, hitting over 30 stadiums and amphitheaters nationwide from August to October.
