*The View* cohost Sunny Hostin has slammed Kid Rock over the recording artist's Bad Bunny criticism ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show — particularly calling out Kid Rock's problematic lyrics about liking underage girls.

Days before the Puerto Rican Grammy winner takes the largest stage in pop culture, *The View *panel addressed Turning Point USA's mounting of a Kid Rock-starring "All-American Halftime Show" aimed at counter-programming Bad Bunny's weekend set.

"Puerto Ricans are American citizens, because Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States. All Puerto Ricans born in Puerto Rico or here on the mainland are American citizens," Hostin stressed, taking issue with the Turning Point event's name. "So, Bad Bunny, while he speaks Spanish, as Ana [Navarro] does, as I do, we're all Americans," she said, turning toward her cohost.

Hostin then said she felt that conservative criticism over Bad Bunny's decision to perform Spanish-language songs at the Super Bowl represents "just racism, pure and simple," before shifting her attention to Kid Rock's lyrics from the past.

"I'd like to point out some of Kid Rock's 'American' lyrics," Hostin said, before reading a portion of Kid Rock's *Osmosis Jones* song titled "Cool, Daddy Cool" which appeared on the soundtrack to the 2001 Warner Bros. animated film.

"It includes the following lyrics about underage girls," Hostin said, reading words that Kid Rock rapped in the tune: "'Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage. See, some say that's statutory, but I say it's mandatory.'"

She finished, telling Rock, "So, if that's more American, go for it."

Kid Rock previously criticized Bad Bunny's upcoming Super Bowl show, saying, “He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America."**

Earlier in *The View* broadcast, Hostin called out a few inconsistencies in that mindset.

"I think what's fascinating is that his off-brand type of halftime show is even happening, because they think that Bad Bunny is not American. Think bout all the other acts that have performed during halftime, like Phil Collins. He's from the U.K., okay?" before invoking names like past Super Bowl halftime headliners Coldplay and U2. "They're not American, and that didn't make the halftime show un-American. It is so very racist what is happening in this country about Bad Bunny."

Conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin also slammed Kid Rock for his stance on Bad Bunny.**

"First and foremost, it is a business decision by the NFL," Griffin said. "I'd guess this might be the most-watched. Listen, people want the rage bait. They want the engagement online. But, at the end of the day, Kid Rock is a very average artist who has mostly kind of gone past his prime. Average might be generous."

Amid pushback to the All-American Halftime Show, Kid Rock recently shared on Thursday a quote titled "Mamba Mentality" from Kobe Bryant. “Learn to love the hate,” it read. "Embrace it. Enjoy it. You earned it.”**

The quote continued, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone should have one about you. Haters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones."

Bad Bunny recently made history at the 2026 Grammys, where he became the first artist to win Album of the Year for a Latin album.

Conservative commentators have also criticized him for previously revealing that he would not tour the United States on his latest concert series amid fears that immigration officers would show up and target his fans.

*The View* airs weekdays on ABC. The 2026 Super Bowl halftime show takes place Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
