- A new *Supergirl* teaser reveals David Corenswet's role in the DC Studios film.

- Director Craig Gillespie teases Corenswet's involvement and the "older-sibling dynamic" with Milly Alcock's Kara.

- "It was actually our first day out the gate," Gillespie says of Corenswet's scenes.

It's a Super family affair in the latest *Supergirl* teaser.

David Corenswet returns to his role as Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman for this summer's DC Studios movie, which stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

Alcock, known for *House of the Dragon*, made her debut in the role of the Kryptonian cousin to the Man of Steel during an ending sequence for 2025's *Superman*. Now Corenswet returns the favor by crossing over into her neck of the woods.

Superman appears in the teaser during a transmission, asking when his cousin might come home to Earth. Kara spends most of her time blocking out the memories of her traumatic past by partying on planets with red suns, the kind that weaken a Kryptonian's abilities enough so they can feel the effects of alcohol and drugs.

"They have such different upbringings," director Craig Gillespie (*I, Tonya*) tells ** of the two characters. "Superman hasn't gone through trauma. He came from a very loving family and was almost groomed to be in this role, whereas Supergirl has been through trauma and the role's kind of being pushed upon her at a later age and she's having to adjust to that."

Unlike Kal-El, who came to Earth as an infant, Kara grew up on their home world of Krypton through her teens. When the planet was destroyed, her parents, Zor-El (David Krumholtz) and Alura (Emily Beecham), sent her through space to join her cousin, while they stayed behind and perished along with the planet.

Jason Momoa transforms into Lobo in new 'Supergirl' teaser: 'Finally'

"Even though they're cousins, you get this almost older-sibling dynamic and that can be adversarial at times," Gillespie says. "He's the gentle guy that wants to reach out and be patient, and she's having to find a way and find herself."

The main plot of *Supergirl*, inspired by the *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* comic arc by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, involves a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), seeking Kara's aid in bringing the one who killed her family to justice, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts). When Krem poisons Supergirl's dog, Krypto — the last of her immediate family from Krypton — with a lethal toxin, she only has three days to retrieve the antidote, which is in Krem's possession.

Jason Momoa, who previously played Aquaman in the last iteration of the DC universe, also features prominently in the role of Lobo, a heavy-metal, motorcycle-riding intergalactic bounty hunter.

Gillespie teases another scene in the film involving Corenswet's character and the arrival of Supergirl on Earth.

"It was actually our first day out the gate," the filmmaker, also known for directing *Cruella* and *Dumb Money*, recalls of the start of production. "She just landed, so she doesn't know English. So she's out of the gate speaking Kryptonian."

*Supergirl* arrives in theaters on June 26. Watch the new teaser above.
