Less than 24 hours after rumors of certain scenes being cut from Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2, Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke in the series, has shut the possibility down.

ā€œThere’s no secret Snyder cut of the show,ā€ Havens, 48, wrote in a message he shared via his Instagram Stories on Sunday, December 28. ā€œDon’t believe everything some random ass tells you on the internet.ā€

The speculation started shortly after Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 dropped on Christmas Day, when a vocal group of fans began criticizing Episodes 5, 6, and 7 online. Much of the backlash centered on dissatisfaction with certain character arcs, unresolved plot points, and expectations that some viewers felt weren’t met.

Those frustrations escalated when an anonymous source claiming insider knowledge allegedly reached out to several fan accounts on social media. The source claimed that multiple scenes were cut from Volume 2 before its release, including expanded moments between Will and Mike and a supposed fake out death involving Will.

The claims were eventually compiled into a widely shared Google document that laid out detailed descriptions of the alleged cut scenes and attempted to tie them to past cast interviews and press tour comments. As the document circulated, fans began referring to the situation as ā€œCutgate,ā€ and a Change.org petition followed, urging Netflix to release the rumored footage. The petition has since gained tens of thousands of signatures.

Despite Havens’ response about there not being any crucial scenes being cut from the final production, not everyone was convinced.

ā€œThe concept of a cast member who isn’t there everyday like the original cast and saying there isn’t cut scenes even though he won’t know because he wasn’t there like everyone else,ā€ wrote one person on X.

Another added, ā€œIf nothing was cut, how can we explain the lack of confirmed soundtracks, the change in timing, and the presence of photos from scenes that were never shown?ā€

ā€œOkay so where are those scenes they mentioned in interviews, panels, & leaks huh??ā€ a third chimed in.

While it’s standard for television productions to shoot additional material that doesn’t make the final cut, there’s been no credible confirmation that the specific scenes described ever existed, or that Netflix made a last minute decision to significantly alter the season.
