Who is still a strong supporter of Donald Trump at this point? No, seriously, Stephen Colbert wants to know.

The* **Late Show** *host appeared genuinely baffled by the president’s current poll numbers during his opening monologue on Tuesday, mostly due to the 22 percent of Americans who are still throwing their support behind the 79-year-old former reality star.

“According to a new UMass, YouGov, ‘you spin me right round, baby, right round’ poll, [Trump’s] approval rating has sunk to 33 percent,” Colbert said as cheers erupted from the audience.

He continued, “One -third! That’s only one out of every three people. To put that into perspective, turn to your right. Now turn to your left. Both of those people are more popular than Donald Trump.”

The comedian noted that Trump’s other polling numbers are also “pretty rough,” with 47.2 percent of Americans stating that they “strongly disapprove” of the Republican politician. However, Colbert also acknowledged that “22.4 percent” of people strongly approve of Trump’s leadership.

In light of the latter number, Colbert simply walked up to the camera and shouted, “Who are you?!”

He then adopted a silly tone as he mocked Trump’s most ardent supporters. “Well, I want gas to be expensive! I want the Kennedy Center blowed up!” Colbert declared. “And I know this is a pipe dream, but is there any way that maybe — *maybe —* we could get Denmark to hate us? Because I would just love it if the price of licorice went up, too.”

Colbert added that low poll numbers as well as rising gas prices might be spooking Trump because the president reportedly told aides that he’s willing to end the ongoing war in Iran without the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway through which a large percentage of the world’s oil travels.

“Trump wants to cut and run and pass his problem off to just anybody else,” Colbert said, before bringing up one of the president’s latest Truth Social posts in which he encouraged other countries to steal oil from the region.

"All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” Trump wrote. “You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us.”

He continued, “Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”

To which Colbert said, “He’s right, the hard part is done. Now, go do the harder part.”
