Spidey senses are tingling!

Spider-Man Noir, a fan-favorite character from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is swinging into streaming in a new series, Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage.

The eight-episode thriller will mix film noir and comic book action, with Cage as a private investigator whose superhero past comes back to haunt him. In Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man Noir was an alternate-universe Peter Parker, but in the upcoming series, Cage is playing a character named Ben Reilly.

"This character's very different from the Peter Parker from the movies. He's older and jaded, and not afraid to punch a guy in the face drunkenly," Spider-Noir producer Chris Miller told Esquire in February 2026.

In the series, Spider-Man isn't swinging through the city streets, it's a masked vigilante known as the Spider, similar to other pulp comic heroes like the Shadow and the Spirit.

Here's everything to know about Spider-Noir, including when it will debut and who is in the cast.

What is Spider-Noir about?

Spider-Noir is set in 1930s New York City, and follows Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), an aging private investigator who used to be the masked superhero known as the Spider, as he is pulled back into the web of his former Spidey self.

According to the official series description, Ben "is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero."

To give viewers the full film noir experience, Spider-Noir will be available to stream in two versions: "Authentic Black & White" and "True-Hue Full Color."

"The truth is, they both work and they're beautiful for different reasons,” Cage told Esquire. "The color is super saturated and gorgeous. I think teenage viewers will appreciate the color, but I also want them to have the option."

On Feb. 12, a trailer for the series was released in black-and-white and full color.

Cage, who stars as Ben Reilly, was inspired by crime-solvers and cartoons for his performance as the seasoned gumshoe.

"For me, this character was 70 percent Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny," the Oscar winner told Esquire in February 2026. "I was basically Mel Blanc doing Bogart, with that sarcastic sense of humor. But it’s a hundred percent me."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Noir is Cage's first leading role in a TV series.

The rest of the ensemble includes Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez and Jack Huston.

How is Spider-Noir connected to the Spider-Verse movies?

Cage previously voiced the character of Spider-Man Noir in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but the Spider-Noir casting is where the connection ends.

According to Variety, the Spider-Noir live-action series also stars Cage, but the show is not connected to the Spider-Verse movies and is instead based on the Spider-Man Noir comic book.

The Spider-Man Noir comic series first debuted in 2008, per Marvel.
