Ron Carlivati and Y&R Co-Head Writer Jamey Giddens Are Set to Write All My Children Reunion Movie

All My Children alumni Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who played Hayley and Mateo on the gone-but-never-forgotten ABC soap opera, are working on bringing the Pine Valley gang back together for reunion movies on Lifetime. Now, we know which familiar names are set to serve as the project's head writers.

Daytime Confidential reports that Jamey Giddens, recently named co-head writer of The Young and the Restless, and Ron Carlivati, who has head-written One LIfe to Live, General Hospital, and Days of our Lives, are set to write the first movie, having been chosen by Andrew Stearn (Shameless), producer.

"I've been booked and busy in 2026," Giddens posted on social media. "Thanks to Andrew Stearn, the Agnes Nixon estate, Kelly Ripa, and Mark Consuelos for entrusting [Ron Carlivati] and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime."

On X, formerly Twitter, Carlivati shared, "So excited to share this news! Thanks to Andrew Stearn, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Albert Bianchini, and the Agnes Nixon estate for entrusting [Jamey Giddens] and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime! Stay tuned!"

Ripa and Consuelos recently shared with the Los Angeles Times their desire to bring AMC back to viewers, given what the show has meant to them. The couple met on the show in 1995 when Consuelos screentested for the role of Mateo Santos, Hayley's love interest.

Today, the couple hosts the wildly popular daytime talk show, Live With Kelly and Mark. The duo's production company, Milojo (which derived its name from the first two letters of the names of their children, Michael, Lola, and Joaquin), has numerous projects on the air and/or in development.

"Everything is possible, and yet nothing is possible," Ripa said about getting a show on the air. Consuelos concurred that the most difficult part is making sure a show crosses "the finish line."

However, the two have a big stake in bringing AMC reunion movies back to the screen, as it's where it all began for the duo in so many ways. "It'd be wonderful to give the fans something that they've been yearning for so many years," Consuelos said. "All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back."

Ripa says that bringing an AMC reunion movie -- or any project to TV -- is challenging in the ever-shifting world of entertainment.

"The way the industry is constantly shifting, it's about harnessing something at the right time," she says, noting that it's important not to be ahead of the curve or behind it. "You wanna be right in that sweet spot, and that's what I find to be the most challenging."
