The couple were married from 2011 to 2015.

Miranda Lambert is sharing a rare glimpse into the aftermath of her divorce from Blake Shelton.
Reflecting on her two-decade career, Lambert recounted the circumstances that led her to create her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings, in 2016.
“[In] 2015, I got divorced and that sucks for anyone, especially in the public eye, especially on tour, especially in the middle of a very public career, two of us, you know what I mean?” she told the And The Writer Is... podcast in an episode published on Tuesday. “It just was a really not fun time.”
The “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer was married to Shelton from 2011 to 2015. After relocating to Oklahoma during their marriage, she moved back to Nashville after the divorce and “dove head first into songwriting.”
“When I moved back in 2015, I gathered up all of my friends and relationships from, you know, all of the previous years and just used the misery,” she continued. “I used the staying out too late at honky tonks. They used what I was living and my friends went on that journey with me, friends being songwriters. And I think I wrote 75 songs in like a year.”

While breakups are never easy, Lambert found a silver lining in the divorce. “It was kind of magical because I really started growing my songwriting then,” she said.
