Tylor Chase in 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide'
The Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss is providing an update on Tylor Chase, the Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide actor experiencing homelessness and addiction.
Weiss, who has long been open about his own journey from addiction to sobriety, said in an Instagram video on Monday that "we're having a really hard time" getting Chase the assistance he needs.
"Tylor has to want to go to treatment," he said. "All the resources are available to him, and it's very frustrating because there is no system in place to help people like this, and our only option now is to what? Watch him wither away on the street?"
Weiss, who previously experienced homelessness and drug addiction himself before announcing in 2022 that he was two years sober, first got involved in trying to get Chase help when a video circulated on social media on Dec. 20 showing the former child star living on the streets of Riverside, Calif.

According to Weiss, Jacob Harris, the owner of Riverside's Shipwreck Barbershop, who has also been documenting his journey to get Chase assistance, contacted a mental health crisis team, who did an evaluation on Chase and "agreed that he needed help," however, they ultimately "did not keep him" and instead "they released him in the middle of the night."
Harris shared his own update on his Instagram, telling viewers that Chase was in a "36-hour medical hold," during which they were able to get him "clean, detoxed, physically clean."
Harris, in conjunction with Chase's family, had a professional rehabilitation coach from Boston ready to work with the former actor in the hopes they could keep him off the streets, but "he was not, at the time, willing to accept help from the rehabilitation coach, although he was very receptive toward the information."

"So, we were able to call another crisis team," Harris added. "They came out and evaluated him. Since he was of sound mind, cleaned up and not in immediate danger, they weren't able to take him."
Both Harris and Weiss called on officials and the city of Riverside to help by making sure that they "not let him slip through the cracks" if he comes in again. They also encouraged fans who see him in public to tell him they love him, but not to film him or give him money, and instead to give him space.
Chase played the fast-talking and precocious Martin Qwerly on the Nickelodeon teen sitcom Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide across the full three-season series run. Originally from Arizona, the former child star hopped from Ned's to brief appearances in an episode of Everybody Hates Chris, a short film, and the James Franco indie Good Time Max. His last role was providing the voice of Hank Newbern in the 2011 video game L.A. Noire.
