Shia LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriend Mia Goth is focused on her daughter and career, a source tells PEOPLE
Following LaBeouf’s multiple arrests in New Orleans, “there is nothing she can do to help him,” says the insider
Although Goth “really cares about Shia,” they add, their relationship “was just not a good situation”
Mia Goth is keeping things in focus when it comes to ex Shia LaBeouf.
"Mia focuses her energy on her daughter and her career,” a source tells PEOPLE of the British actress, 32. “She's aware what's going on with Shia, but there is nothing she can do to help him.”
LaBeouf, 39, was arrested after an alleged altercation during a Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 17 in New Orleans and charged with two counts of simple battery. The Transformers star was then arrested and charged with an additional misdemeanor count of simple battery on Feb. 28, per the and The Guardian. He was ordered to enroll in substance abuse treatment, undergo drug testing and post a $100,000 bond as conditions of his release.
Goth, who dated LaBeouf on and off since 2012 and shares a daughter with him, made several public appearances in support of the release and awards recognition for her Guillermo del Toro movie Frankenstein. She attended the 98th Academy Awards on March 15 in support of the Best Picture nominee.

“She chooses to focus on things that she does have control over,” says the insider. Calling Goth’s relationship with LaBeouf “a sad situation,” they add, “she'd love for them to be together as a family. She really cares about Shia. It was just not a good situation."
LaBeouf and Goth met while filming Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012. In 2016, the pair wed in a Las Vegas ceremony, although officials later confirmed that they were not legally married. Following a divorce announcement in 2018, LaBeouf and the Pearl star were spotted in 2020 with wedding rings on. They welcomed their daughter, Isabel, together in 2022.

The news from New Orleans marks the latest in a series of arrests for LaBeouf. A source told PEOPLE in February that the Honey Boy writer-star had moved from Los Angeles to New Orleans after splitting from Goth to "reset" and be closer to family.
On March 17, a video obtained by TMZ showed LaBeouf in a hotel lobby in Rome, Italy, wearing only his underwear and trying to bum a light for a cigarette.
Among Goth's upcoming screen projects are The Odyssey (in theaters July 17) and Star Wars: Starfighter (in theaters May 28, 2027).
