- Matt Smith went full fanboy when he spoke about Keanu Reeves being spotted watching his 2022 flick, *Morbius*, during a plane ride.

- Smith, who starred alongside Jared Leto in the ill-fated comic book adaptation, gushed about his love for the *Matrix* actor during an appearance on Brittany Broski's *Royal Court* podcast on Wednesday.

- "[He] just looks like an angel," Smith said of Reeves.

Matt Smith is ready to sign up for the Keanu Reeves fan club — even if he questions the latter's taste in movies.

The *House of the Dragon* star revealed himself to be a major fan of the *Matrix* star during an appearance on Wednesday's episode of Brittany Broski's *Royal Court* podcast, in which the host brought up the fact that Reeves had been spotted watching Smith's 2022 film *Morbius *during a plane ride.

"I love Keanu Reeves," Smith told Broski in a reverent tone, seemingly so in awe he stumbled over his words a bit. "He's like, you know, like you get like a man — mate. Keanu Reeves, what a movie star. And [he] just looks like an angel, you know what I mean? Like if you were to get a guardian angel in life, please God, let it be Keanu Reeves."

Broski agreed with the actor's sentiment wholeheartedly, dubbing the *John Wick *star "the movie star."

"I genuinely think that that period of movies, that sort of '90s period of films I just love, from *Point Break* onwards," Smith gushed. "I just think he's the best."

However, while Smith had nothing but good things to say about Reeves, he was hilariously snarky about his choice of in-flight movies.

Released in 2022, *Morbius* stars Smith as Milo, childhood friend to vampiric antihero Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto), who were both cared for by the hospital director, Dr. Emil Nicholas (Jared Harris), due to their rare disorder that leaves them in a permanently weakened state. The movie was poorly reviewed and grossed a lackluster $167 million worldwide, on a reported $75 million budget. Audiences gave it a dreadful C+ CinemaScore.

*Morbius* marked the third entry in Sony's ever-expanding Spider-Man-based movie universe, in which Spider-Man has yet to actually appear. The loosely connected cinematic universe kicked off with 2018's *Venom* and continued with the 2021 sequel *Venom: Let There Be Carnage*. The Spider-universe then doubled its size with three additional entries: the maligned *Madame Web* in 2022, as well as the threequel *Venom: The Last Dance* and the series' first R-rated installment, *Kraven the Hunter* in 2024.

At the time of its release, Smith took *Morbius*' subpar reception in stride. "Yeah, it was thrown under the bus,” the actor told *Rolling Stone U.K.* "But you just have to roll with it. What else are you gonna do? It's a film, at the end of the day, we’re not saving lives. For whatever reason, it didn’t quite work out and… It is what it is."

Despite its low reception, clearly the film found a viewer in Reeves, which Smith couldn't help but poke fun at.

"Jesus Christ. My god. He must have really gone through the BA library to be get to that," the British actor quipped.

When Broski joked that Reeves must have been "drunk," Smith shot back that Reeves must have been "having a moment. He's on the Valium or something."

"No, but what a legend. I love Keanu Reeves, I just want to make that really clear," Smith declared to the camera.

And when Broski asked him what he watches during flights? "Not f---ing *Morbius*," Smith cheekily responded.
