Season 2 of Marshalsis on its way.
PEOPLE has the exclusive first teaser for the next season of the hit series, a spinoff of Yellowstone. In it, Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, finds himself held at gunpoint by a group of men.
“I’ve heard stories about the Duttons,” one man says. Kayce hits back, saying, “The fact that you’re doing this tells me you haven’t heard them all,” before attacking one of the men.
“Nobody escapes unscathed with death and violence,” says Rainwater, played by Gil Birmingham. To which Kayce responds, “That’s the Dutton way.”
The teaser gives viewers a sneak peek into the action that awaits, showing Kayce on horseback as he points his gun toward a moving vehicle. As the car flips in the air, he rides away with a smirk on his face.
The series follows the youngest son of the Dutton family, who joined the U.S. Marshals, leaving the Yellowstone ranch behind. In the original series, the tortured cowboy met his happy ending when he chose to walk away from his family’s ranch and build a new life with his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and their son Tate (Brecken Merrill).

However, Marshals sees Kayce navigate grief and raise his son Tate, all while taking on the role of a U.S. Marshal, in which he must protect the region against violence.
Season 1 of the Western ended on a cliffhanger as Belle (Arielle Kebbel) and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) were ambushed and shot at by gunmen who were later revealed to be hired by Tom Wheeler (Chris Mulkey). The fate of Andrea (Ash Santos) hangs in the balance as she took on a new job in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Kayce unknowingly sent his son off with an enemy.

In a May interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kebbel and Marshall-Green confirmed they will return for season 2. "I can confirm he is alive, but not necessarily unscathed," Marshall-Green said. Kebbel also teased that the forthcoming season will pick up from that chilling moment.
"I can tell you that we’re all going through things — without giving anything away," Marshall-Green said.
Santos similarly reveals that the next season will explore a different side of Andrea, telling PEOPLE that, “We'll start to see a side of Andrea that's almost opposite to how we met her in season 1.”
"From what I know so far in season 2, so much is being cooked up that we'll just have to see," she said. "There's so much that I just did not expect at all. I was like, 'Holy s---, that's good.'"
The exact premiere date of Marshals season 2 has not yet been revealed, but it is slated to return to CBS in the fall. Marshals season 1 is now streaming on Paramount+.
