Actor Danny Glover revealed he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2022.

The 79-year-old told the Today show "things are going to be different and changing" as the disease progresses.

“I can live with it, in a sense," Glover said.

Lethal Weapon and The Color Purple actor Danny Glover has revealed he has Alzheimer's disease.

The 79-year-old announced on Wednesday's episode of Today that he was diagnosed with the progressive neurodegenerative condition that impacts memory, movement, and speech just before he received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the January 2022 Governors Awards ahead of the Oscars.

“I can live with it, in a sense," Glover said on the program, adding that, "I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing."

Per the Mayo Clinic, Alzheimer's is the leading cause of dementia, with a buildup of proteins in the brain eventually leading to the death of brain cells and brain shrinkage.

Glover's daughter, Mandisa, said on the morning program that she feels it's important that her father "tells his story" now, so that he "has ownership of his life" while he still can.

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly's sister publication, PEOPLE, the actor admitted that he's "still not accepting in my mind all parts of" the diagnosis.

“There are the moments that you keep remembering that validate the fact that you can remember stuff," Glover said. "And there are moments I'll never forget."

Mandisa added, "The history of my dad is that he remembers every single thing back to 1970, what corner he was standing on, who he spoke to, what they spoke about, what color they were wearing, everything,” though his ability to recall specific details has notably been altered.

“He'd tell you so much about his parents — and I've heard those stories over and over — and there would be pieces of the story missing," she remembered, referencing the period before her father was diagnosed. "I said, ‘I wonder what's going on.'"

Glover's career is filled with notable roles and developments, from the aforementioned success he found in the Lethal Weapon franchise and The Color Purple to his lauded turn opposite Sally Field in Places in the Heart.
