Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian recently candidly spoke about the fetal surgery that saved their two-year-old son's life.
The Blink-182 drummer, 50, and the reality TV star, 47, welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen in November 2023. The couple opened up furthered abut the emergency procedure that Kourtney underwent seven months into her pregnancy with their first child together in Travis' new Hulu documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear.
The new documentary premiered on Thursday, August 13. It chronicles the musician's career and life, including the 2008 plane crash that he survived but left him struggling with grief and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

"I was touring, I was actually in Europe," Travis said in the recent doc when he received a call from Kourtney about Rocky's dire condition in the womb. "She says, 'Trav, I went to my doctor and the baby's lungs are filling with fluid.'"
Travis noted that he was informed that Rocky's diagnosis needed surgery in which doctors "drained the fluid from his lungs by placing a needle through her stomach."

"It was terrifying going in for the surgery," Kourtney said in Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear. "He canceled four shows, and he just came and laid with me in the hospital and made sure that everything was OK."

Travis explained why his fear and concern for the Lemme founder and their son were magnified, stating, "Once you've experienced a miscarriage, you're just waiting for something awful to happen."
The couple had experienced a miscarriage before, which they shared in the doc. During a first-trimester appointment, they were told that their baby girl — whom they had picked the name Tulip for — didn't have a heartbeat.

"When we lost the baby, we were devastated," Kardashian recalled in the documentary. "We just laid in bed and cried for days. All we wanted was to have a baby together."
Kourtney previously shared her fertility struggles with Travis during an Instagram Q&A in May 2024. She revealed that she underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) five times within a year.
She shared that they ceased IVF after that and that one year after stopping, they conceived Rocky naturally.
Back in September 2023, Kourtney disclosed that she was in the hospital for the emergency fetal surgery that saved her fourth child. She shares her other three children — Mason, 16, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 11 —with ex Scott Disick.

"I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock,” she wrote.
“And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this. As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn't prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery," she added in part.
Travis is also a father to Atiana de la Hoya, 27, Landon Baker, 22, and Alabama Barker, 20, with ex Shanna Maokler.
