Karoline Leavitt has been issued a humiliating blow as critics confused her husband for her grandad and called out her age-gap marriage.
The White House press secretary, 28, took to Instagram on Sunday, April 12, to share some pictures of her family. In one snap, Leavitt was seen holding her one-year-old son Nicholas "Niko" Robert Riccio as she stood next to her 60-year-old husband Nicholas Riccio.
The soon-to-be mother-of-two wore a lemon colored blazer and white top, completing her look with off-white trousers and a gold necklace. The family picture was taken as they attended the White House Easter Egg Roll 2026.

In a second Instagram picture, Leavitt was seen reading a children's book at the event. The final snap in Leavitt's Easter round-up showed her carrying her son through a crowd. This time, she'd swapped her orange blazer for a light blue one.

While some fans reacted positively to the post, a lot of Leavitt's critics trolled her over her age-gap marriage. "Just a girl and her grandpa!" one person joked.

"That ur dad?" another person asked as someone else echoed, "Is that your father?" A fourth critic mocked Leavitt by writing, "Her grandpa looks great. How old is he?"
Someone else pointed out, "Propaganda Barbie likes old guys." A sixth person fumed, "The "Sugar Baby" with her senior citizen husband. That baby is the same age as Karoline was when her husband was a 30 yr old Grown A-- man!"
Leavitt's latest Instagram post comes after relationship therapist Sofie Roos shared a warning that the 28-year-old could face some challenges when it comes to parenting with her older husband.

Speaking previously to The Mirror US, Roos suggested Leavitt and Riccio could find themselves struggling with three big differences - "experiences, energy levels and general outlook on life."
Roos told us, "Karoline Leavitt and her husband may face a discrepancy in their view on parenting, as you're often having different experiences, energy levels and general outlook on life when having a big age difference between you. It's common that the older partner has a more laid back view on being a parent, while the younger one wants to be more active in for example trends around how to raise a child."
The relationship expert suggested this can be a "strength" for some couples, however, she warned, "It also puts bigger pressure on them being able to compromise and listen to each other's viewpoints, and that they’re aware of this and invest in an open, respectful yet honest communication, which I truly hope they do."
