The R&B track finds him searching for a rebound romance following a difficult breakup

The musician and actor released his new single "Somebody," on Friday, Feb. 13, and the R&B track finds him searching for a rebound romance following a difficult breakup — just in time for Valentine's Day.

"On the eve of Valentine’s Day I got some music out there for you. It’s out right now, it’s called ‘Somebody.’ Make sure you go get it right now," said Foxx in a social media video about the song. "Go get ‘Somebody.’"

He then referenced the song's lyrics and added, "Somebody, find me somebody to get this somebody off my mind so I can fall out of love again."

The lyrics of "Somebody" center on Foxx looking for a new lover to help him forget about a past romance. "We still got toothbrushes sharin' the same old sink / The clothes on my chair makes it hard to think / Our coffee mugs lined up like they still in love / I wash one, dry one, still never wash you off," he sings on the first verse.

Its chorus features the lyrics, "Can somebody find somebody to get this somebody off my mind? / I've been talkin' to the ceilin' like it's gonna give me answers tonight / If healing is a number, then mine's stuck on your line."

"Somebody" marks Foxx's first single of 2026 and follows last year's "Grandma's Hands." His last full-length album, Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses, was released in 2015.

Last year, Foxx was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards in an emotional moment after surviving his near-fatal stroke in April 2023, which he spoke about in his acceptance speech.

"Man, we used to take this thing for granted — that God is good," he began at the time. "All the time. I cannot even begin to express the love that I feel from everybody out there."

Foxx continued, "I gotta be honest — when I saw the 'in memoriam' [portion of the awards show], I was like man, that could have been me. But I don't know why I went through what I went through, but I know my second chance I'm not going turn down. I'm not going to turn down."

He recalled asking for "one more crack" at life. "I said whatever reason you put this on me, I promise I'mma do right. I'mma do right in front of y'all, because I know a lot of times, when we get on we forget about where we come from," he said.
