Lucy Davis has announced on Instagram that she has incurable Stage 4 breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with a year and a half ago.

The 53-year-old actress said that the disease has metastasised to her bones, including her spine, right hip and ribs. She has said that it is now too late for chemotherapy. In her August 11 post, Davis mentioned that the initial sign she noted was a tiny “hard spot” that she nearly ignored and urged others not to dismiss any unusual changes and get them checked.

Davis was previously married to Welsh actor Owain Yeoman. They tied the knot on December 9, 2006 at St Paul's Cathedral. The wedding was attended by The Office cast and writers. However, their marriage ended in 2011. The couple cited irreconcilable differences while finalizing their divorce. They do not have any kids.

Widely recognized as the Not So Fit Couple, Ben and Lucy were together for about five years after meeting at a fitness convention called Fitcon. In late 2024, Davis confirmed that they had split.

In her cancer announcement on Instagram, Lucy Davis shared that since her diagnosis, it has been difficult for her to stand or walk. She sometimes has to depend on a wheelchair. She said that she is “trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can.”

She values humor and has urged her friends and family to “make as much fun of me as possible”. Lucy Davis shared one positive thought of being reunited with her dog, Gracie, who passed away in 2024.

The Shaun of the Dead star was diagnosed with kidney failure in the mid-1990s after a routine medical exam for a role in Pride and Prejudice. At that time, doctors told her that she would need a new kidney, after which her mother donated her kidney. She had shared about it in interviews and recently posted an Instagram post in June 2026. The post read:

“One’s Enough! My mum gave me a kidney over 28 years ago! Both my kidney, and her remaining one, are still going strong. Please consider donating if you can. It’s life changing and life saving. And I understand that the process is simpler than when we had our transplants. We were in hospital for 2 weeks back then, but I believe it’s a few days now.”

Davis contracted diabetes during her recovery period and post-transplant care, heavily influenced by daily anti-rejection medications and steroid treatments. She also developed bulimia due to a lifelong obsession with weight and food.
