Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen have spent years counting down to the new year together. Now, the longtime CNN hosts are preparing to count down to a different milestone: America's 250th birthday.

The pair will co-host "Independence Eve Live with Anderson & Andy: Celebrating 250," a special CNN event. The program will feature a midnight ball drop honoring America's 250 years of independence.

Throughout the night, the hosts will welcome special guests, including cultural icons and everyday Americans whose stories reflect the country's history and diversity. CNN correspondents stationed across the nation will also provide live reports from local celebrations.

"Independence Eve Live with Anderson & Andy: Celebrating 250" will air Thursday, July 3, from 8 p.m. ET through 12:30 a.m. ET on CNN.

The special will air on CNN for TV and streaming subscribers through CNN.com and CNN's mobile app.

The patriotic ball drop is scheduled to air at midnight ET on CNN as July 3 turns into July 4 in Times Square.

What else is CNN airing for America's 250th birthday?

CNN's coverage continues July 4 beginning at noon ET with "The Fourth in America: Celebrating 250," a daylong special featuring live reports from Boston, New York, Washington and other cities nationwide.

The network will broadcast the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, along with fireworks displays from more than a dozen cities. Musical performances are expected from artists including Charlie Puth, Josh Groban, Kane Brown, Goo Goo Dolls, Maren Morris, Lil Wayne, AJR, Kool & The Gang and Chaka Khan.
