Grading the Steelers-Cowboys Broderick Jones trade: Which team came out on top?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have finally cut ties with their former 2023 first-round bust in offensive tackle Broderick Jones, shipping him and a fourth-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a third- and sixth-round pick. And that begs the question: which team came out on top in the trade?
While it's a little premature to evaluate the winners and losers from the Jones trade before seeing how the picks from the 2027 NFL Draft play out, we can still at least give some initial grades for both the Steelers and the Cowboys.
Here's a look the grades we believe each team deserves:
Steelers: B+
Pittsburgh did have to part ways with a fourth-round pick to make this trade work, but picking up a third-rounder for Jones is exactly why the Steelers general manager is referred to as "the Khan Artist."

The Steelers made it clear that Jones wasn't part of their long-term plans after they declined to pick up his fifth-year option and drafted his replacement in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Now Pittsburgh has another top-100 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft in exchange for a struggling offensive tackle.
Cowboys: C
Dallas already has its starting offensive tackles lined up in Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele. Unless the Cowboys plan on Jones competing for a starting job at either left or right tackle, which seems unlikely, a third-round pick seems like a steep price for a depth piece that's given up 16 sacks since 2024.
The fourth-round selection the Cowboys picked up in the trade was solid, which is why Dallas is receiving a C instead a D grade.
