Port Charles is bursting with secrets, confrontations, and unexpected twists ©ABC
On General Hospital, family loyalty is a wonderful thing, provided nobody discovers a corpse, claims ownership of your child, or plants surveillance equipment in your briefcase. Jason and Danny shared a touching remembrance of Sam before returning to the town's regularly scheduled criminal complications. Brook Lynn and Josslyn plotted against Jude Jacks while looking fabulous, and Heather Webber decided that the best way to reconnect with her family was to purchase a notorious island estate.
Meanwhile, Jordan emerged from surgery looking ready to audition for The Phantom of the Opera, Willow continued distributing guilty verdicts without the inconvenience of a trial, and the Quartermaines faced enough potential family reunions to overwhelm the entire staff of the Maury Povich Show.
Spotlight scenes

Jason has a heart-to-heart with Danny on General Hospital | Image: ABC
Jason and Danny shared one of the week's most touching moments when they met at the boathouse on the anniversary of Sam's death. Danny admitted that he missed his mother every day and worried that she would be disappointed in the choices he'd made. Jason quickly reassured him that nothing could be further from the truth. He reminded Danny how much he resembled Sam, particularly in his determination to protect the people he loves. It was a lovely reminder that Sam's influence remains an important part of both their lives, and Jason's willingness to comfort his son showed a gentler side of a man who usually spends his days rescuing people from situations involving gunfire.
Of course, this being Port Charles, a heartfelt father-son conversation couldn't possibly conclude without somebody mentioning a corpse. Danny revealed that he and Charlotte had discovered Jack Brennan's body, setting off an entirely different conversation about the trouble they'd gotten themselves into. Jason immediately shifted into protective mode, particularly when he learned that Carly and Valentin had gone to the nature preserve.
The transition from remembering Sam to dealing with yet another potentially disastrous family secret was surprisingly natural. More importantly, the scene demonstrated how Jason and Danny's relationship continues to develop. Danny may have inherited his parents' talent for finding trouble, but he also knows he can turn to his father when things get complicated.
Wardrobe MVPs

Brook Lynn and Josslyn bring their fashion A-game | Image: ABC
Brook Lynn and Josslyn proved that plotting against a potential family menace doesn't mean sacrificing one's fashion sense. Meeting privately at the Quartermaine boathouse, the two women discussed Jude Jacks and his sudden claim to be Phoebe's biological father.
Josslyn warned Brook Lynn that her newly discovered cousin was bad news and might have his sights set on more than just the baby. With the Jacks family fortune and JJE potentially in play, Jude's arrival was becoming a threat on several fronts. Brook Lynn wanted answers, and Josslyn was more than willing to help, particularly if it meant protecting her father's legacy from another troublesome relative.
Of course, Brook Lynn had an ulterior motive when she offered Josslyn a bottle of water, hoping to obtain a DNA sample that could help determine whether Jude was related to Phoebe. Josslyn immediately figured out what she was doing and agreed to cooperate, proving that these two are perfectly capable of combining clever investigative work with impeccable wardrobe choices.
Brook Lynn's black jacket and Josslyn's pale blue ensemble made them equally deserving of this week's Wardrobe MVP honors. If they're going to wage war against Jude, they might as well look fabulous while doing it. After all, a potential custody battle is stressful enough without committing a fashion crime in the process.
Best camera moment

We got to see Josslyn's spy skills in action on General Hospital | Image: ABC
Josslyn finally got an opportunity to put her espionage training to practical use this week, and it was refreshing to see her doing something that resembled actual intelligence work. During a meeting with Hudson in his Metro Court room, the conversation turned to Sonny's attempts to recruit him and the mysterious appearance of Ric at the gym. Hudson recalled that Ric had entered the locker room while he was showering, which immediately raised Josslyn's suspicions.
Rather than dismissing the coincidence, she produced an electronic bug sweeper from her purse and began searching Hudson's belongings. Apparently, Josslyn has reached the point in her career where surveillance equipment is just another everyday accessory, presumably nestled somewhere between her lipstick and car keys.
The search quickly paid off when Josslyn discovered a listening device hidden inside Hudson's briefcase. Ric had been using it to eavesdrop on their conversations, giving Sonny a potentially valuable advantage in his ongoing conflict with Josslyn over the piers. The discovery was particularly satisfying because it allowed Josslyn to demonstrate her intelligence and investigative instincts without somebody conveniently handing her the answers. She recognized the significance of Ric's visit to the gym, followed the evidence, and uncovered the surveillance operation herself. Watching her work through the problem was considerably more interesting than another lengthy conversation about how dangerous Sonny might be.
Observations, complaints, and unhinged theories

Jordan's bandage was reminiscent of the Phantom of the Opera | Image: ABC
Jordan's recovery in Germany took an unexpectedly theatrical turn when she awakened following surgery with half her face covered in bandages. The result bore a remarkable resemblance to The Phantom of the Opera, although Jordan was considerably less interested in haunting an opera house than convincing Michael she could continue her treatments.

Between the mysterious medical procedures, her developing infection, and Michael hovering around her bedside, the entire situation was beginning to resemble a particularly expensive European Gothic melodrama. All Jordan needed was a chandelier, a subterranean lake, and somebody playing an organ badly enough to warrant a noise complaint.
Hudson continues to demonstrate that he's probably the last person anyone in Port Charles should deliberately antagonize. The man has an almost Terminator-like ability to remain composed when confronted with threats, and he doesn't appear particularly intimidated by Jude Jacks.
Considering Jude's confrontational attitude and his interest in JJE, a showdown between these two seems increasingly inevitable. However, Jude might want to research his opponent before attempting anything foolish. And did he know all along that Jude was Phoebe's biodaddy?
And is he really? Jude's arrival has certainly convinced Brook Lynn and Chase { [native code] }) that their daughter's future is in jeopardy, but Ava's mysterious warning about Ethan Lovett suggests the established paternity story may have a few missing pages. Hudson remains an intriguing alternative, particularly considering how little we actually know about his background. Imagine the fallout if the man helping Josslyn investigate Jude turned out to be Phoebe's real father. The Quartermaines would need an entirely new wing of the mansion just to accommodate the resulting family meetings.
A confrontation between Jude and Hudson could become one of the more entertaining developments in this storyline. Jude has already demonstrated that he isn't afraid to threaten Josslyn, but Hudson is considerably less likely to respond to intimidation by politely excusing himself. There's something wonderfully appealing about watching an arrogant newcomer discover that the fellow standing across from him isn't remotely impressed by his reputation. If Jude decides to push Hudson too far, he might discover that Port Charles has acquired its newest Enforcer.
Heather's decision to purchase Spoon Island { [native code] }) and eventually leave Wyndemere to Ace raises some fascinating questions about just how much she knows concerning her grandson's Cassadine heritage. She's certainly aware that Ace belongs to a family with a rather complicated history, but does she understand the full extent of the baggage attached to that particular surname? Buying the infamous estate as a gesture of familial affection is an interesting choice, especially considering its history of sinister residents and unfortunate events. Most grandmothers purchase savings bonds or educational toys. Heather apparently prefers to provide her descendants with their own Gothic island fortress, presumably because the local toy store was out of building blocks.
Thursday's conversations introduced two intriguing possibilities involving familiar faces from Port Charles history. Lucy mentioned Brenda Barrett while discussing the prospect of launching a cosmetics company to compete with Deception, while Tracy abruptly departed for Bangkok after learning that Dillon had been arrested for filming inside a Buddhist monastery.
Neither development guarantees a return, but both references were conspicuous enough to raise questions. Brenda could certainly complicate any number of existing relationships, while Dillon's predicament provides an obvious opportunity to bring him back into the Quartermaine orbit. Of course, getting arrested for unauthorized filmmaking at a monastery might be one of the more respectable reasons a Quartermaine has ever required legal assistance.
Willow's certainty that Carly and Valentin murdered Brennan is becoming increasingly irritating, particularly since the investigation remains unresolved and new evidence continues complicating the authorities' assumptions. She seems perfectly content to accept the police theory because Carly had a motive, despite knowing how easily circumstantial evidence can mislead an investigation.
The irony is particularly rich considering how readily Curtis and Chase have defended Willow when her own behavior has attracted suspicion. Apparently, Port Charles has developed an exclusive society for people who demand absolute faith in their own innocence while immediately assuming everybody else is guilty. Membership includes a complimentary blindfold, a personalized set of double standards, and absolutely no requirement to examine the evidence.
Epilogue
And so another week concluded with Port Charles still attempting to determine who fathered whom, who murdered whom, and whether purchasing a Gothic mansion automatically qualifies someone for the Grandmother of the Year Award. Jude continued making enemies, Josslyn demonstrated that her handbag contains considerably more sophisticated equipment than most federal agencies, and Jason discovered that fatherhood occasionally involves explaining why finding a dead body requires contacting the authorities.
Join us next week when the Quartermaines introduce a revolving-door policy for newly discovered relatives, Heather announces plans to convert Wyndemere into a luxury retirement community for misunderstood psychopaths, and the Port Charles Police Department unveils its revolutionary new investigative procedure involving a cryogenic freezing chamber, a stolen Cassadine bioweapon, and a forensic specialist whose only qualification is having survived three previous attempts to destroy the world.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams on Hulu.
