George Clooney isn't too excited about his twins Alexander and Ella, 8, following him into the film industry
Instead, he says he'd rather them follow his wife Amal Clooney's footsteps and become lawyers
The star also joked that his kids still have no idea what he does for a living
George Clooney doesn't want his kids to follow in his footsteps – but he'd be okay with them following in his wife's.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new film, Jay Kelly, the actor, 64, shared that some of his costars' kids appeared throughout the movie. When asked why his own kids – twins Alexander and Ella, 8 — aren't making cameos, Clooney said he'd prefer they don't be in the industry.
“Because I don’t want them in it,” Clooney says with a laugh. “Well, they actually don’t know what I do for a living yet. No, not really.”

The outlet then suggested that Clooney's twins might instead pursue a career as a human rights and international law lawyer like their mom, Amal Clooney.
“I hope. My god, a lawyer? That’d be amazing," Clooney says. "You know, my son went to Halloween dressed as Batman, and I was like, ‘You know, I was Batman.’ And he was like, ‘Not really.’ And I was like, ‘You have no idea how right you are.’"
This past October, Clooney shared a glimpse into his life living in France with Amal and their two kids. The star told the outlet that he's "very lucky" to be able to raise his children on a farm away from the Hollywood spotlight.
“You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it," Clooney explained. "But now, for them, it’s like—they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life."
"I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life," he added. "France—they kind of don’t give a s--- about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the outlet captured a hilarious moment while the family of four was enjoying food. As Clooney unveiled the afternoon's lunch — lemon pasta and chicken with fresh tomatoes from their garden — the mom of two joked that they were "lucky" that she "didn't cook any of it." In response, Clooney jokingly asked his twins what would happen if their mother cooked the food.
Together, Ella and Alexander responded in unison, "We all die!”
In September, Clooney told The Daily Mail that he drives both of his kids to school every single day. He noted that the routine brings a sense of "normalcy" to his life.
"I have normalcy. You know, I drive my kids to school every morning," Clooney told the outlet. "I have normalcy — except for this!"
