A dispute erupted on social media late Saturday as former Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene strongly criticized Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s response to the deaths of two U.S. service members killed in an Iranian strike in Jordan.
Following the Friday attack, which involved Iranian drone strikes that also left one service member missing and four others briefly hospitalized, Hegseth posted a message on X. “Godspeed, heroes,” Hegseth wrote. “Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.”
Greene responded directly to the post, objecting to the use of the word “sacrifice” and directing her criticism toward both Hegseth and President Donald Trump.
“Sacrifice?? What the f**k are you talking about??” Greene posted on X. “They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump, and the admin, are waging on behalf of a FOREIGN COUNTRY, Israel.”

Greene, who has consistently opposed the conflict with Iran, concluded her statement by writing, “Their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.”

President Trump also addressed the incident late Saturday during an interview with NewsNation, expressing regret over the casualties while reiterating the administration’s broader foreign policy objectives regarding Iran.
“It’s a very sad thing. We hate to see it happen…It’s in service to our country…we’re never going to allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.
