Dua Lipa says her songwriting has shifted to exploring love and its complexities instead of heartbreak

She shared that feeling broken once inspired her music because it is a strong and loud emotion

Lipa now focuses on quieter aspects of relationships and what happens when you truly find love

Since finding love with Callum Turner, Dua Lipa‘s songwriting sessions hit different.

In a cover story interview published in Vogue Italia on Monday, Aug. 24, the singer-songwriter opened up about writing from a place of real love.

“Talking about being heartbroken is a very common thing. When I was younger, I found much more inspiration in the search and desire,” Lipa, 31, told the outlet.

The “Training Season” singer continued, “And that’s because feeling broken is a very strong and loud emotion. But now I want to discover what happens when you truly find love.”

She concluded, “I’m interested in the complexities of a relationship, its quieter aspects, the little things.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lipa opened up about balancing her work and her personal life — and how the Eternity actor, 36, complements her lifestyle perfectly.

“I‘m very good at balancing work, hobbies, and family,” the “Levitating” singer said. “I’ve never put my ambition aside, and I’m lucky to be with someone who loves working as much as I do.”

“We understand and support each other. And let’s not forget that when I’m not on tour writing and recording, I can be anywhere in the world,” she continued.

Lipa and Turner first got married in an intimate ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London on May 31. Then, in June, they had a bigger wedding ceremony in Palermo, Sicily.

In an interview with Esquire UKfor their August 2026 digital cover, Turner shared that he is looking forward to doing “more of the same” work he’s doing now — in addition to starting a family.

“I’m 36. I’d like to have a family and raise some kids,” he said.

On Monday, Aug. 24, Lipa gave followers a glimpse at their life together when she shared a photo dump from her birthday weekend on Instagram — and it included various photos with Turner.

“Birthday weekend 💋 thank you for all the love and the wishes!!! ready for my next lap around the sun...it just keeps getting better 💋,” she wrote.
