Dominic Sessa talked about playing Anthony Bourdain in "origin story" biopic Tony

The 23-year-old said he filmed the A24 movie in Cape Cod, Massachusetts earlier this year

Sessa is starring Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third Now You See Me movie, out Nov. 14.

The Holdovers star is turning back the clock to play Anthony Bourdain.

Dominic Sessa — who is starring in Now You See Me: Now You Don't — talked about pivoting from the Now You See Me franchise to the late chef’s early life in Tony.

“It's a sort of origin story in a way,” the 23-year-old told PEOPLE at the trilogy’s N.Y.C. premiere on Monday, Nov. 10, of the highly-anticipated biopic.

There has been very little information shared about the A24 movie since The Hollywood Reporter broke the news in August 2024, but Sessa explained that they filmed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts earlier this year.

He continued, “I'm playing Bourdain sort of, you know ‘75, ‘76, that era, when he was working there in the summers.”

Antonio Banderas is also starring in Tony, though his exact role has not been clarified. The movie's release date has not been confirmed.

The Parts Unknown host would have celebrated his 69th birthday on June 25. He died by suicide on June 8, 2018.

Bourdain’s story has previously been shared in a post-mortem documentary, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, which was released in 2021, but Tony will be the first biopic.

Fans will get a new look at the author in never-before-streamed episodes from the Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown companion series, Prime Cuts.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, CNN introduced an All Access subscription tier that allows viewers access to behind-the-scenes clips of Bourdain. Originally, the hour-long episodes of Prime Cuts ran ahead of each Parts Unknown season premiere, featuring a combination of clips from the flagship series with commentary from Bourdain about his travels.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, after airing, episodes of Prime Cuts never ran on CNN again and were not included on CNN+ or CNN Max streaming libraries.
