David Harbour couldn’t keep it together for one specific Stranger Things scene alongside Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the show’s season 5 premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, Nov. 6, the actor, 50, revealed that while he was often “pretty responsible” with making sure he got a take done on the set, there was one scene that happened in season 3 which took “an hour” to shoot because he couldn’t stop laughing.

“If you watch [the] behind the scenes of season 3, I'm sitting there with Finn and Millie on the bed and I say to Finn — I'm very angry at Finn and I'm like, ‘You got to get home because I don't want him in bed with my daughter.’ And I'm like, ‘You got to get home.’ And he goes, ‘Why? What's the matter?’ And I go, ‘It's your grandma,’ ” Harbour recalls to PEOPLE.
“And I just, for some reason, that particular line, I couldn't say it for like an hour,” he explains. “And I laughed and laughed and laughed to the point where the children, Millie and Finn, were like, ‘What is wrong with you? We need to get to work.’ ”
The Thunderbolts* star says that he apologized to Brown, 21, and Wolfhard, 22, but that memory still sticks out even to this day — especially since it was rare for him to break character like that.

“If you watch that thing, that really is probably one of my favorite memories because I'm a pretty responsible guy when I go to work, but I was very, very irresponsible that day,” he adds. “And yeah, it was amazing.”
Harbour and Brown arrived together on the red carpet for the premiere of the latest season and were captured on camera laughing, hugging each other and posing for photos. The latter plays the character of Eleven, while the former stars as Eleven’s adoptive dad, Jim Hopper.

Netflix posted a video of the pair’s entrance and hug at the premiere with the caption, "David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown arrive together for one last Stranger Things premiere 🥹."
The pair's public embrace on the red carpet follows a Nov. 1 report from The Daily Mail of Brown's alleged lawsuit against fellow cast member Harbour, complete with "pages and pages of accusations."
A source claimed to the publication that "Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season” and that the “investigation went on for months."
Neither of the stars have publicly commented on the article. Reps for Netflix, Brown and Harbour have also not responded to requests from PEOPLE for comment.

The two actors have worked together on Stranger Things since 2015 when filming for the first season began in Atlanta. At the time, Brown was 11 years old. They previously opened up about their bond, on and off set, at Paleyfest in Los Angeles in 2018.
"We went through so many different emotions ... we get angry at each other, we are like father and daughter," Brown, then 14, told the audience, per Refinery29.
In the panel, Brown said that the pair "got angry with each other" and expressed their feelings "on and off the set." The Enola Holmes actress added, "Those scenes were so raw and real that the reward is the scenes."
Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 premieres on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix, followed by Volume 2 on Dec. 25, and the finale on Dec. 31.
