Dan Levy is opening up about the "collective loss" we're all experiencing following the death of Catherine O'Hara.
The actor recently took time out to reflect on his beloved *Schitt's Creek* costar.
"It's a collective loss," he told Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday's episode of *The Tonight Show*. "She was the greatest. She's irreplaceable. I think the great comfort for me has just been to see how loved she was. The outpouring — everyone felt like they kind of knew her."
O'Hara died at 71 on Jan. 30 following a brief illness. Her death certificate cited the main cause as pulmonary embolism and rectal cancer as an underlying cause.
Known for her iconic roles in *Beetlejuice*, *Home Alone,* and the films of Christopher Guest, O'Hara had a career resurgence playing Moira Rose on *Schitt's Creek*, which reunited her with her longtime comedic collaborator, Eugene Levy, who co-created the series with his son, Dan. O'Hara won an Emmy for her hilarious portrayal of the Rose matriarch as she struggles to adjust to the formerly wealthy family's new, modest lifestyle.
"What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O'Hara's brilliance for all those years," Levy said at the time of her death. "Having spent over 50 years collaborating with my dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It's hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her."
