Dakota Fanning said she and sister Elle Fanning are "a little nervous but excited" to act together in The Nightingale
"We've established that we're two different people with two different journeys. We don't feel that pressure anymore," Dakota said of her and Elle coming together to costar in the film
The Nightingale is expected to hit theaters Feb. 12, 2027
Dakota Fanning says she and younger sister Elle Fanning are slightly nervous about sharing scenes together.
Dakota, 31, told Byrdie in a new interview for the outlet's holiday issue published Monday, Nov. 10, that she and Elle, 27, no longer feel as strong of a pull to distinguish themselves as individuals in their acting careers.
"For a while, [Elle and I] were very conscious of carving our own paths and being really selective about the things that we did together," the All Her Fault star said. "We don't feel that pressure anymore. We've established that we're two different people with two different journeys."
The actresses are teaming up to portray sisters in an upcoming adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s bestselling novel The Nightingale, which they are also co-producing through their production company Lewellen Pictures.
"It's the best to be able to come together now," Dakota added of the upcoming project. "We're very excited about [The Nightingale]. A little nervous but excited."

The Nightingale, published in 2015, follows two sisters in France during World War II as they cope with Nazi Germany's occupation of the country. In July, the sisters and distributor TriStar Pictures announced that The Nightingale will release in theaters Feb. 12, 2027.
Dakota and Elle have been attached to the movie since 2019; they launched their production company together in 2021, per Variety.
"We have played the same character at different ages, but have never spoken to each other in front of a camera. For years, we have looked for a film to do with one another, and then this gem appeared," the pair told The Hollywood Reporter at the time they were cast in The Nightingale.
Elle and Dakota previously discussed their upcoming screen collaboration during a September interview with Vanity Fair, in which Dakota remarked that the pair have "literally never done a scene together, ever."
In her Byrdie interview, Dakota said she and Elle are prioritizing unexpected stories when it comes to choosing new projects to produce.
"My sister and I love to surprise people and be a part of things that they may not expect us to be a part of," she said."Getting to produce things through our company in all different spaces has been so exciting," Dakota added. "[Elle and I] have different strengths and weaknesses, but at the core we're the same. We have the same vision and mission. It's also exciting to figure out the things to be a part of together and the things that we should do separately. I couldn't ask for a better person to do this with."
