Bobby Flay is a regular on the Today show and while he usually comes ready with his own recipes for his cooking segments, one of his A-list pals recently demanded he make a change.
Earlier this month, the Food Network personality, 61, was invited to appear on the show by his longtime friend Scarlett Johansson, who happened to be co-hosting the episode. While getting ready for the taping, he says Johansson ended up texting him to find out what he was going to cook.
"Scarlett Johansson texted me and said, 'What are you making?' because she asked me to be on the show to cook because she's going to co-host," Flay explained on an episode of his Bobby on the Beat podcast which premiered on Monday (Dec. 29).

Flay went on to say that he told Johansson about the meal that he had planned—which she immediately turned down and asked him to make something a little different.
"I said, 'I think I'm going to make a holiday pork chop and she was like, 'I don't want that,'" he continued. "She's really into food and that's why when she asked me to be on, I was like, 'What do you want?' Because she really cares."
Johansson went on to request that Flay whip up some "tasty hors d'oeuvres." After pivoting his plans, Flay ended up cooking crab meatballs, chicken wings, deviled eggs and goat cheese and bacon croquettes—much to Johansson's approval.
"I did have a hard time deciding what to make," Flay noted, adding that there were so many possibilities with hors d'oeuvres. Despite the switch-up, Flay says the whole experience "was really fun!"
