Maddox Jolie-Pitt filed paperwork requesting a legal name change to "Maddox Chivan Jolie."

- He is the most recent one of the exes' six children to drop the surname.

- The former couple were together for more than a decade before their split caused years of legal drama.

It appears another one of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's children are formally dropping their dad's surname.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt, the former couple's eldest child, has filed paperwork to legally drop "Pitt" from his name, officially becoming "Maddox Chivan Jolie," according to TMZ. This follows Maddox's decision to lose "Pitt" in his professional name, as he is listed as "Maddox Jolie" in the credits of Angelina's recent movie, *Couture*, on which he worked as an assistant director.

The legal move also comes after a few of Maddox's siblings decided to drop the Pitt name. Shiloh, now 20, filed to change her name to "Shiloh Nouvel Jolie" on her 18th birthday in May 2024. The petition was officially granted by a Los Angeles court a few months later.

Earlier this month, Zahara informally dropped her father's last name as she walked across the stage to accept her diploma from Spelman College. Her name was read as "Zahara Marley Jolie," despite it being listed as "Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt" in the commencement program.

Vivienne, 17, also seemingly decided to leave behind the Pitt name as she is listed as "Vivienne Jolie" in the Playbill for the musical *The Outsiders*, which she helped mom Angelina produce. *PEOPLE* confirmed the informal name change in May 2024.

Angelina, 50, and Brad, 62, also share sons Pax, 22, and Knox, 17, although it appears they have both kept the "Jolie-Pitt" label.

Brad's relationship with his children seemingly soured after him and Angelina called it quits in 2016 following more than a decade together. The couple, dubbed "Brangelina," met in 2005, amid the end of Brad's marriage to Jennifer Aniston, and eventually tied the knot in 2014 with their six kids looking on.

However, Angelia filed for divorce two years later, claiming Brad physically and verbally abused her and their kids on a plane in 2016. (She alleged in a countersuit that Brad "choked one of the children and struck another in the face" during the incident, and in response, a representative for the actor insisted, "Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn’t do.") The exes then became embroiled in a tense legal battle as Brad also sued Angelina for selling her share of the Château Miraval winery they owned to a third party — Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group.

The winery dispute is still ongoing with Brad recently scoring a win after a judge ruled that Todd Culyba, a former Global General Counsel at Stoli Group, must sit for a deposition tied to the case. Pitt’s team previously filed to compel Culyba's testimony.

Of Maddox's name change, a source close to Brad told *EW*, "It's not a surprise this news was released shortly after Brad had a significant evidentiary victory in the Miraval case."

As for their divorce, Angelina and Brad settled their case in Dec. 2024 after years of further allegations and custody disputes. At the time, Angelina's lawyer shared a statement to *PEOPLE*: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

The exes were declared legally single in 2019, and Brad has been dating Los Angeles jewelry executive Ines de Ramon since 2022.
