Alanis Morissette is suing her former tour manager, alleging Keren Urinov perpetrated “a calculated blackmail campaign.”
According to the complaint, Keren Urinov, whom the singer hired temporarily in 2025, demanded a 15-year employment contract or she would report Morissette for “drug trafficking.”
Morissette is suing for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation and seeks compensatory damages in excess of $75,000.
Alanis Morissette’s working relationship with her former tour manager sounds like it turned into a jagged little pill.
The “You Oughta Know” singer filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Keren Urinov, whom she hired temporarily to work on her 2025 world tour. The complaint alleges Morissette is the victim of “a calculated blackmail campaign orchestrated by a disgruntled former tour manager.”
The Grammy winner alleges that Urinov threatened to report her for drug trafficking “unless Morissette agrees to employ her as a tour director for fifteen years and pay her massive compensation,” according to court documents obtained and reviewed by Entertainment Weekly. “Morissette will not be coerced into delivering her blackmailer an extraordinary payday. She sues to expose Urinov’s scheme and hold her accountable.”
It all began on July 12, 2025, when Morissette claims in the complaint that while traveling to Spain for a concert, Urinov’s bag allegedly containing marijuana and xylazine, a non-opioid animal tranquilizer, was seized at Farnborough Airport in the U.K.

The following day, when Morissette and her team reentered the U.K., British Border Force detained Urinov for further questioning, and she again admitted “the alleged drugs inside [the bag] belonged to her,” read the complaint.
After the tour ended, Urinov seemingly changed her tune.

Morissette claims in court documents that Urinov and her attorney “sent a series of increasingly extortionate letters.” The communications threatened to “file a patently frivolous lawsuit against Morissette in the United Kingdom for unspecified claims if Morissette refused to tell British law enforcement that the alleged drugs were hers.”
According to the complaint, the letters allegedly said the singer could put “an end to the matter” if she agreed to hiring Urinov full-time for 15 years, paying her a salary “equivalent to that of a tour director with annual increases and bonuses.” Morissette refused, “not only because [Urinov] is a blackmailer, but also because she was a terrible manager of the 2025 tour,” states the complaint, citing a hotel booking error that cost the singer “nearly $70,000.”
Morissette is suing Urinov, a former executive for Live Nation Israel, for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation. The singer’s complaint seeks a jury trial and compensatory damages of over $75,000.

Urinov’s attorney did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
Thirteen days before Morissette’s lawsuit, Urinov filed her own claim against the singer in London’s King Bench Division, which handles cases of defamation, misuse of private information, data protection, and harassment by publication. It is not immediately clear what claims she is making against Morissette.
