Two children have died and three others are injured after a carriage driven by a 7-year-old girl flipped over several times in Canada.
The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. local time on June 4, when a group of children riding a carriage collided with a side-by-side vehicle on a rural road in the town of Pouce Coupe in northeastern British Columbia, CP24 and CBC News reported, citing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
"Five young children were in the vehicle when the driver lost control, resulting in the vehicle rolling several times over a considerable distance," the RCMP said in a statement to the outlets.
The police said that 8-year-old Jordan Poulin, a carriage passenger, died at the scene. The driver of the carriage, 7-year-old Jadyn Barrett, died in the hospital, according to the local news outlet Kelowna Now.

"A life was lost, and our hearts are broken," Luke continued. "Our 7-year-old daughter is currently in critical condition and is being transported by STARS air ambulance to Edmonton. Please keep her and my nephew's family in your thoughts and prayers as she fights."
Luke wrote in an update on June 5 that Jadyn had died, "My daughter went to Heaven. She's running on the streets of gold."
Three other children in the side-by-side vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to CP24 and CBC News. They have not been publicly identified at this time.

The provincial legislation in Canada states that children under 16 are not permitted to drive a vehicle with passengers and they must have an adult supervising, per CBC News.
The day before the crash, the Pouce Coupe municipality released a notice on its website about the dangers of using off-road vehicles.
"With the arrival of warmer weather, the use of off-road vehicles, including ATVs, dirt bikes and side-by-side vehicles, increases throughout our region," the message read. "These vehicles … must be operated responsibly and only in areas where their use is permitted."
