These Hollywood stars prove that you can become a dad at almost any age.

One of the many privileges of being a wealthy, successful actor is that you can afford to have kids (plural!) well into your 50s and beyond. While they can’t buy back the hours of sleep lost to growing pains and teething, being able to pay for high-quality childcare and education is almost definitely less of a concern for male actors of a certain age. Some, like Jon Hamm, wait until after 50 to welcome their first kiddo, while others, like Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, continue growing their families in their 70s and 80s.

Below, we’re taking a look at 15 actors who became dads in their 50s, whether it was the first time, the sixth, or the last.

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin welcomed his first child, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger in 1995. It would be another 18 years before Baldwin expanded his family. Following his marriage to Hilaria Baldwin (née Thomas) in 2012, the couple announced the birth of their daughter Carmen in 2013, when Baldwin was 55. They’ve since had six more children together: Rafael in 2015, Leonardo in 2016, Romeo in 2018, Eduardo in 2020, María Lucía in 2021, and Ilaria in 2022.

“I always joke with her and say, ‘You know where I should be right now, don’t you? We should be on [David] Geffen’s yacht, drinking a cappuccino and reading a book, and having dinner with Spielberg or whatever,’” Baldwin told PEOPLE in 2025, to which Hilaria replied, “Instead we’re changing diapers!”

Warren Beatty

After years as one of Hollywood’s most enduring bachelors, Warren Beatty married Annette Bening in 1992. The couple welcomed their first child, Stephen, the same year, when Beatty was 55, and since then, they’ve had three more: Benjamin in 1994, Isabel in 1997, and Ella in 2000.

“I became a devoted husband and father 25 years ago, and I have to say they have been the most enthralling years of my life, with our four fantastic kids,” Beatty said in 2016 while accepting the Kirk Douglas Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of the ceremony, Beatty said, “We are married now for 25 years, and we have these four, what I like to call small eastern European countries that we negotiate with, and we send ambassadors, and we negotiate, and they’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me — they, and her.”

Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro was 79 years old when he casually announced the birth of his seventh child, Gia, in 2023.

“It feels great,” the Oscar-winning actor told AARP the following January. “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at [Gia]. It’s wondrous.” De Niro revealed during a 2025 appearance on BBC Radio 2 that he’s had less time for watching movies since she was born, instead tuning into The Wiggles and Ms. Rachel. “I didn’t know of them until I started seeing them, and my daughter loves to watch them,” he said. “They’re great… They have a lot of energy.”

Along with Gia, whom he shares with partner Tiffany Chen, De Niro has six other children: Drena (born in 1971) and Raphael (born in 1976) with his ex-wife, Diahnne Abbott; twins Julian and Airyn (born in 1995) with his ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith; Elliot (born 1998) and Helen Grace (born 2011) with ex-wife Grace Hightower. De Niro’s five youngest kids were all born after the actor turned 50.

Clint Eastwood

Like several of the famous dads on this list, Clint Eastwood has a pretty big family. The Oscar-winning actor and director has at least eight children that we know of — as noted in a 1997 Playboy interview, Eastwood has famously refused to confirm the exact number, and tends to bristle at the mention of his children.

Of his confirmed children, half of them were born after Eastwood turned 50, starting with actor Scott Eastwood, who was born in 1986 to Clint and former paramour Jacelyn Reeves. The pair welcomed a second child, Kathryn, in 1988.

Scott has said that he had a relatively traditional upbringing. “My dad was pretty old school,” he told PEOPLE. “I’ve had a job since I can remember and it’s not like he was like, ‘Hey, what kind of car do you want?’ My first car was a ‘91 Ford Crown Victoria that was $1,000. And I had to buy every car after that. I had to do it all.”

He also said that his dad encouraged him to explore filmmaking. “Like he says, it’s feast or famine for an actor,” Scott explained in a joint Esquire interview with Clint in 2016. “If you’re not creating your own material, then you’re just fighting for whatever’s out there. I definitely have the desire to go to the other side.”

Francesca, whom the elder Eastwood shares with actress Frances Fisher, was born in 1993. Eastwood’s youngest child, Morgan, whom he shares with ex-wife Dina, followed in 1996. Eastwood’s eldest children include Laurie Murray, born in 1954; producer and makeup artist Kimber, born in 1964; bassist and composer Kyle, born in 1968 to Eastwood and his first wife, Maggie Johnson; and retired actress Alison, Eastwood and Johnson’s second child, born in 1972.

Will Forte

Former SNL star Will Forte was 51 years old when he and his wife Olivia Modling welcomed their first child, Zoe, in 2021. “It’s so fun,” Forte told PEOPLE. “It starts as the best thing in the world and then just gets better and better.”

“I thought I would’ve been a dad when I was 25 or 26. I’ve always been very excited about it,” Forte explained. “Then you start living your life and you realize that it’s all out of your control. At a certain point, I almost gave up on it. I just thought, ‘Oh, well, maybe it’s not in the cards for me.’”

“And thank God all the stars aligned and I met this wonderful woman, Olivia,” he added. “And now we have this little Zoe who’s the best.” In 2022, Forte and Modling welcomed their second child, Cecilia.

Jeff Goldblum

When Jeff Goldblum and his wife Emilie had their first child, the Jurassic Park star was 62 years old. The couple’s oldest, Charlie, was born in 2015, followed by River in 2017.

“It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to,” Goldblum told iNews in 2018. “What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them.”

Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer’s sizable family includes eight children, four of whom were born after the Frasier star turned 50. That includes his youngest child, Christopher, who was born in 2025, when Grammer was 70. The actor became a father for the first time in 1983, when he and ex-wife Doreen Alderman welcomed daughter Spencer. His second daughter, Greer, whom he shares with former girlfriend Barrie Buckner, was born in 1992.

“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” Grammer admitted in an interview with PEOPLE. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.” In his 2025 book about the death of his sister, Karen: A Brother Remembers, Grammer included a section about his eldest daughters, who have both become successful actors. “I thought, ‘Well, I should put in this little section that doffs the cap to my children as a thank you,’” he said. “I know it was tough sometimes and maybe I wasn’t around all the time, but you’re doing what your dad loves doing, and that’s a cool thing.”

The sitcom star married Camille Grammer in 1997, and they had two kids together — Mason, born in 2001, and Jude, born in 2004 — before their divorce. In 2011, Grammer married his current wife, Kayte Walsh, with whom he has four children: Faith, who was born in 2012 when the actor was 57, followed by Kelsey in 2014, Auden in 2016, and Christopher in 2025.

Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant welcomed his first child, Tabitha, with former partner Tinglan Hong in September 2011, the same month that the Bridget Jones’ Diary star turned 51. In September 2012, Grant’s second child, John (his first with Anna Eberstein), was born, and three months later he welcomed a third child, Felix, again with Hong. Grant had his fourth child, Lulu, with Eberstein in 2015; the couple married a few years later, in 2018, and welcomed their third child (Grant’s fifth overall), Blue.

Grant typically keeps his kids out of the spotlight, though he will occasionally discuss fatherhood in interviews. During a 2024 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Grant revealed the the name of his youngest child, explaining that he let his son Felix help decide.

“We said, ‘There’s a new baby coming along, what should we call her?’ And he said, ‘Kevin,’ because that was his favorite Minion,” Grant said, referencing the Despicable Me franchise. “And we did think about calling her Kevin but then we said, ‘You better think of something else.’ So he said Blue, because it was his favorite color.”

Jon Hamm

Former Mad Men star Jon Hammis among the newest additions to the dads-over-50 club, as PEOPLE confirmed that the 55-year-old actor is expecting his first child with wife Anna Osceola. Hamm and Osceola, an actress, met on the set of the AMC series in 2015 and tied the knot in June 2023.

A famous bachelor for many years, Hamm’s relationship with Osceola seemed to inspire a change of perspective when it came to marriage and children. “[I’m] really thinking about all that stuff,” Hamm said on The Howard Stern Showin 2022. “That’s made the relationship that I’m in now even more meaningful and opened up the possibility of things like being married, having kids, defining a new version of happiness, life, wellness.”

Steve Martin

Steve Martin became a dad for the first time in 2012, when he and wife Anne Stringfield quietly welcomed their first and only child. The legendary comedian and star of Only Murders in the Building was 67 when their daughter was born.

Martin has kept his daughter out of the spotlight, but in a 2017 interview with AARP, the actor said it was “fantastic” having a child later in life. “I think if I’d had a child earlier, I would have been a lousy father because I would have misplaced my attention on my career,” Martin explained. “I am very forthcoming with her, and it’s great. She’s giving me way more than I’m giving her.”

Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy started building his impressive family in 1989 with the birth of his eldest child, Eric, whom he shares with former girlfriend Paulette McNeely. Since then, the iconic funny man has welcomed nine more children, with the two youngest born after Murphy turned 50: Izzy (born in 2016) and Max (born in 2018), both of whom he shares with wife Paige Butcher.

In addition, Murphy had Bria (born in 1989) with his first wife, Nicole Mitchell; Christian (born in 1990), with former girlfriend Tamara Hood; Myles (born in 1992), Shayne (born in 1994), Zola (born in 1999), and Bella (born in 2002), all with Mitchell; and Angel (born in 2007), whom he shares with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.

With so many children, a few are bound to follow in their famous father’s footsteps, but as daughter Bella explained to PEOPLE, he doesn’t make it easy. “[W]e have a rule that we can’t act or work until we’re 18 in this industry,” said Bella, who costarred in the 2026 Netflix comedy Roommates. “He really wanted me to have a normal childhood, which I’m very appreciative of.”

Jack Nicholson

Like Eastwood, Jack Nicholson’s paternity has gotten a little murky at times, but the Oscar-winning actor has at least six children. The two youngest, Lorraine (born 1990) and Ray (born 1992), whom he shares with former girlfriend Rebecca Broussard, were born when Nicholson was in his late 50s.

Nicholson opened up about his relationship with Lorraine and Ray in a 2008 interview with AARP. “We’ve always gotten along. I want to be inspirational, or some kind of good influence on them without overburdening them. It’s their time of life to find out who they are,” the actor said. “I always read to them, from childhood on; I think that’s a father’s responsibility. I took them to things I knew they might not love — opera, ballet. They like going to the ball games with me. And they are very comfortable around show business; they are good set rats. They walked in on my death scene in The Departed. I said, ‘If I can get these two kids really worried, I’m doin’ my job!’”

Nicholson welcomed his first child, Jennifer, with ex-wife Sandra Knight in 1963. She was followed by Caleb Goddard, whom he shares with Five Easy Pieces costar Susan Anspach, in 1970; Honey Hollman, born in 1982, with Danish model Winnie Hollman; and Tessa Gourin, born in 1994, with Jennine Gourin (as Tessa detailed for Newsweek, Nicholson has never claimed her as his daughter).

Al Pacino

Al Pacino’s first child, Julie, was born in 1989 — just before Pacino turned 50. Since then, the iconic actor has had three more children, starting in 2001 with Anton and Olivia, the twins he shares with actress and former girlfriend Beverly D’Angelo. Pacino and Noor Alfallah welcomed the Godfather star’s youngest child, Roman, in June 2023.

Pacino told the BBC that having a child at 83 inspired him to write his memoir, Sonny Boy. “I want to be around for this child. And I hope I am,” he said, also revealing that he and Alfallah had since split up and that he no longer lived with Roman. “He does text me from time to time,” the actor said. “Everything he does is real. Everything he does is interesting to me. So, we talk. I play the harmonica with him on the other video thing, and we have made this kind of contact. So, it’s fun.”

In April 2026, Justin Theroux became a first-time dad when he and wife Nicole Brydon Bloom welcomed a baby boy. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Theroux, who was 54 when his son was born, explained how the experience changed him.

“It’s difficult to encapsulate, obviously, in any amount of time, but I feel fantastic. It’s really beautiful,” the Running Point star said. “Someone was smart enough to... remind me to remind myself when he was born to put myself in my body and recognize that moment when he came out. And you do feel like your DNA just starts flipping in a different way. The minute you lay eyes on him. It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing.”

John Travolta

John Travolta and his wife, the late actress Kelly Preston, had three kids together, though only one of them was born after Travolta turned 50. Their eldest, Jett, was born in 1992, and tragically died in 2009 at the age of 16.

Ella Bleu was born in 2000, followed by Benjamin in 2010. Travolta was 56 years old when Benjamin was born, and the two developed a particularly close bond. During a 2021 appearance on Kevin Hart’s podcast, Hart to Heart, Travolta recalled a conversation he had with Benjamin, who was worried about losing his dad after the deaths of his older brother and Preston. “I said, ‘But you know, Ben... you always love the truth, and I’m going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay,’” the Pulp Fiction star said.

“Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young,” he continued. “But who’s to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can. So let’s look at it like it’s part of life. You don’t know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can.”
